How is serving this even legal? You may mock us for bannings unhealthy foods but this is ridiculous.

Have you seen the average American lately? Hobbling around on crutches, diabetes, 800 pounds, heart disease, etc.

Is calcium banned in Europe or am I missing something?

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Oreo/Coca Cola team up.

Yes, it's possibly doctored for a joke. But even the real stats are pretty brutal. Also 32 ounces is a lot, people usually get the next size down.

I remember we had a user here so fat he had to take pills to help his diabetes and lose weight. He wasn't very bright though; he thought type 1 diabetes could be reversed by diet.

I think he died actually.

Which foods has Britain banned?

Anonymous N joined in and replied with this 1 year ago, 45 minutes later, 1 month after the original post[^] [v] #1,333,985

@previous (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)

Several additives such as Yellow 5, 6, Red 2, Blue 2, E215, E219, E432, E439, E952, BVO, MSG, Ractopamine and many others that have not been proven safe. The system operates on a principle of banning until proven safe in order to prioritize consumer safety.

Also, fruits and vegetables treated with bee-toxic pesticides are banned, and it is not allowed to advertise food high in sugar, fat and salt before 9PM, both online and on TV.

Which ones? I know there are products which are wildly different in UK and US because of ingredient restrictions such as Fanta.

What is the deal with Brits putting sucralose (Splenda) in sugared soft drinks? I was at a little British shop a while back and I wanted some Ribena and I checked the label and even though sugar is in there, sucralose is too and I cannot handle artificial sweeteners.

I could understand a diet version having artifical sweeteners but even the full-sugar version?

Yuck.

There's a "sugar tax" so a lot of drinks will use artificial sweeteners to save money.

Anonymous N double-posted this 1 year ago, 1 minute later, 1 month after the original post[^] [v] #1,334,041

Ribena specifically is made with blackcurrants so the sugar in there will probably be natural sugars, and the sweetener because corporations love to get people addicted to their products with sweetness or fats.

It wasn't just the Ribena though, it was Irn-Bru, Lucozade, and all the others.

Sugar tax. There was a controversy when Irn-Bru changed their recipe to adjust to it, as it's famously one of the most sugary drinks. They do the original recipe as Irn-Bru 1901

Its very common for too much Splenda to give people chest pain. Mimicking heart attack symptoms

I haven't gotten that myself but Stevia really upsets my stomach and gives me terrible nausea. Nutrasweet does as well. They all taste very bad and artificial and I can detect their presence without being told.

Sugary drinks lol. They all contain artificial sweeteners except rare exceptions like Coca Cola due to the sugar tax.

I agree. It's 💩. I can't have sweeteners either, they give me migraines. Sainsbury's do a summer fruits high juice drink which is similar to Ribena but only has sugar. Coca Cola here still uses only sugar and fruit juices as well.
