Apparently his fatty carbohydrate and occasional sliced meat product diet didn't provide the vitamin A for good eyes. So autism was mentioned, as it is in everything from awkwardness to mass shootings, and I looked up autism and this food habit.

"Unusual eating behaviors may be a new diagnostic indicator for autism"

quoate: Research by Susan Mayes, professor of psychiatry, found that atypical eating behaviors were present in 70% of children with autism, which is 15 times more common than in neurotypical [normal] children.

A couple of cod liver oil capsules usually contain 100% vitamin A in the form of retinol which is more bioavailable that beta-carotene vitamin A found in carrots and other plants. Too much vitamin A is toxic for your liver though.
