Fucking sucks. Shitty SEO spam results and irrelevant nonsense. I miss the days you could type "that one film with the guy from Spaceballs" and it worked.
DuckDuckGo uses Bing results which also sucked last time I tried it.

Google's reverse image search is also noticeably worse. Half the time it forces you into Google Lens (even on desktop Chrome now, after the latest update) which insists on showing you products first instead of general visual matches. In general its results are just crappier. It doesn't even allow searches for faces anymore! And it's far too overzealous in detecting them; I've had searches for cats return the "Results for people are limited, try again" error lately.
I've found Yandex's reverse image search to be pretty impressive, and their general search results are usually decent. I've used Yandex Mail since 2013 (for unimportant/throwaway shit) and it's also grate.

I dunno, isn't Kagi basically just querying Google/Bing/Yandex search APIs and throwing the results back to you with some ✨AI✨ adjustment/enhancement thrown in? I see they have their own crawler but they don't publish any index stats which makes me sceptical.
I'd easily use the 300 monthly searches up in a single hectic workday. :(

At the moment yes. But it also skips all the ads, AI overview blocking half the page bullshit, "helpful" sentiment analysis, etc.
I do expect them to move more towards their own crawler soon. They only just barely crossed 50k users.
