For me it's a convenience thing. I love this push for USB-C everywhere, but it isn't USB-C itself, just that everything uses the same connector. It's nice to use one charger on all my devices, and it's nice to know that I always have the correct cable laying around if needed.

Probably because they now have to go out and buy a micro-usb wire or plug. Or it just has an air of the manufacturer being cheap and not focusing on a quality product.

Not all cables with USB C connectors support the full feature set, but they all look exactly the same. That's a problem. The USB C situation is worse than all prior USB connectors in that regard.

But a micro usb cable won't have those functions at all and they are available with usb c (though usb c cables with the same protocol as micro cables are available and still better than micro)
