Kind of price at an annual cost of about $139, but this app is currently unlike any of its kind out there (for now hopefully). This has definitely aided me in reading and I find myself reading a lot more news articles. I don't really just listen to it like some kind of audiobook. Since this app uses some AI mixed with traditional text-to-speech technology, it's not always going to be a perfect clean read, but it's pretty damn close. And with several different voices, comes different emphasis put on words. It's weird hearing "The President" (Obama) put emphasis on the word 'fuck.' I'm really much enjoying this app and I'm probably going to renew at the end of the year.

And to think I tried this several times and got annoyed by the pay wall, and only after seeing numerous advertisements for it on Instagram, I decided to give the premium plan a try.

I'm wondering when this is really going to take off though. For example, I expected a boom in fallout mod expansions because voice actors are not required. Or a whole website with famous people talking dirty, or just more voice acting in video games, but no....

@previous (B) > Or a whole website with famous people talking dirty
A website dedicated solely to that is unlikely given the legal issues involved. People just use ElevenLabs/Jammable or whatever to achieve it on their own. You can find people on 4chan sharing deepfakes or Rule 34 crap with AI voices added, so it's definitely picking up.

I forgot to add that one thing which impresses me about this application is how each voice handles punctuation well. Having a voice read back exactly what I wrote has definitely aided me in better understanding comma placement. Also, I might roll with the president voice. I kind of miss hearing Obama's voice and brings me back to 2008 CE.

As much as I dunk on everything AI, if I have to pick winners and losers, I'd much rather the subscription models win out rather than whatever 'digital satan' Google, Meta, and Microsoft are trying to conjure.
Text to speech sounds like an obvious use case - thumbs up here.
