Topic: I'm finding some of the excuses in the Gisèle Pelicot rape case to be less than convincing.

Some of these jackasses are claiming that scratching yourself in your sleep means you're aware and consenting to copulation. I find that a shaky premise.

> Many of the men have admitted wrongdoing and, like Vincent C, even apologised to Gisèle Pelicot in the courtroom, but they have also insisted that since they didn’t intend to rape, they should not be found guilty of it.
French penal code says that there is no offence without the intent to commit it; I think that they'll be found liable for "infractions-non intentionnelles" because it will be argued that they were reckless or negligent when committing the act.
> Is it shocking that so many men participated or is it shocking that so few men participated?
If she were attractive the number would have been in the tens of thousands. While the experience was no doubt traumatic for her she's lucky she's ugly and I think the judge will bear that in mind when sentencing her husband. I don't think he'll get the 20 years the prosecution are asking for.

They caught the get filming upskirt videos in a grocery store, and footage of the rapes were on his phone as well. I think he had also been doing weird stuff with his daughter
There's nothing weird about acknowledging that if that woman had been hot the number of guys who'd taken advantage of the offer her husband was making would be exponentially higher than it was. Ugliness does not have many upsides but that woman inadvertently discovered one of them.
The judge literally said in his sentencing that he wasn't imposing the maximum sentence because "if you're honest with yourself they probably did you a favor".
