I may be missing something, but how does taxing the rich make the middle class better off? Obama playing Robin Hood is simply trying to distract the public from the real problem: government interference and lack of freedom. Higher tax rates on the rich are not really correlated to economic growth.
Even if he raises taxes on the rich, the rich have lawyers and accountants to minimize their taxes. For fuck's sake, General Electric paid zero taxes last year on profits of $14,000,000,000 despite the US having fairly high corporate tax rates. Worst case scenario is that the billionaires have to move all their wealth to the Cayman Islands.
