Topic: Am I dislocating my knee or something?

Anonymous A started this discussion 1 year ago #120,977

I'll sit on the floor with my legs crossed and under each other, and a couple of times a year I will get this thing where stretching my right leg is very painful in a way where I can't do it, so I learned through experience that I gotta use my left feet to lower it into a stretching position and I feel some snap.

You're just getting old, stop sitting criss cross apple sauce and you'll be okay.

No that's not what a dislocation feels like

You may have arthritis

This. I have the same issue with my left knee. It's painful when I go to stand up or climb steps.

But other than the initial pain, there's no pain for me, nor swelling 🤔

If it were a dislocation, you'd have pain afterwards and a good amount of swelling

I take painkillers sometimes and also I have a brace for my knee, I have arthritis in my right due to trauma from a crash.

I've found that stretching exercises help as well

How old are you, and are you obese? I'm, not asking to be rude. It's just that sometimes, people carrying extra weight, have joint problems, especially knee problems.

I'm 30 and underweight, but I do carry a lot of weight in work

Ah, ok. That might be it, then. You need some rest. The knees are notoriously weak, and if you damage one too much, it will not go away.

Yes it definitely is experienced as a warning. I think it's definitely more of a criss cross applesauce issue though. I do often sit in the most ridiculous ways possible

Just be careful. Knees are a grand example of the lack of "intelligent design" of the human body. The entire weight and strain of the body being carried by two weak, small joints seems unwise.

Perhaps we were designed for less gravity 🤔
Second edit: maybe space

Maybe. Or, maybe we have just enough knee strength to survive and reproduce. We no longer really need to run from predators or climb trees, so evolution has favored our brains (our greatest strength as a species) rather than our physical prowess. Still, it does seem curious, I agree, that our bodies do not seem well-suited to the Earth.

Maybe nothing is well suited for anything in this world, everything is with flaws and the flaws color everything in the world.
