I'll sit on the floor with my legs crossed and under each other, and a couple of times a year I will get this thing where stretching my right leg is very painful in a way where I can't do it, so I learned through experience that I gotta use my left feet to lower it into a stretching position and I feel some snap.

How old are you, and are you obese? I'm, not asking to be rude. It's just that sometimes, people carrying extra weight, have joint problems, especially knee problems.
Yes it definitely is experienced as a warning. I think it's definitely more of a criss cross applesauce issue though. I do often sit in the most ridiculous ways possible

Just be careful. Knees are a grand example of the lack of "intelligent design" of the human body. The entire weight and strain of the body being carried by two weak, small joints seems unwise.

Maybe. Or, maybe we have just enough knee strength to survive and reproduce. We no longer really need to run from predators or climb trees, so evolution has favored our brains (our greatest strength as a species) rather than our physical prowess. Still, it does seem curious, I agree, that our bodies do not seem well-suited to the Earth.
