I've decided to blog since writing is the only real skill I have in life and it's apparent the US economy's not coming back for a good long while. I don't have much bills, so I don't need to make much money but I do need enough to eat. Hits would be nice.

I know one guy who blogs and he assures me content quality isn't as important as good marketing and stirring up emotions. So, what should I write about?

Look at successful blogs and see what they are doing, you'll see a lot of variety between niches. Basically everything you do should be about your niche, if you had a religious blog for example stirring up emotions too much would probably cost you a lot of readers. As long as it interesting to the people you're trying to interest, its good enough.
