The article I saw said it was in part because cell phones aren't secure and can be tracked that people went for pagers. What a nutty twist this was. I'm going to just leave my messages at the 7/11 bathroom, it's safer there.

I think they were using pagers because Israel kept intercepting their smartphone signals. It's a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem.
