Topic: How do I making techno musics?

I don't know what software you use to compose and make the techno sounds/tracks. I have heard of something called Ableton live/suite and other stuff but I'm not quite sure exactly what it is or if its what I need or what I should get. Am I looking for a "sequencer" or "mixer" or what?
