The war means nothing to me. Ukraine has been in and out of the Russian empire, and the EU said they didn't want them before this started. Warcrimes are bad, but every major player is doing it.

primarily its because because russia is building up an alternative banking system to israel and its golems, but also theirs some lingering buttmad for the soviet union kicking them out in the first place, as well as successfully exorcising a full, late stage communist infestation.
