In Utah it is a class C misdemeanor to point a laser pointer at a law enforcement officer and is an infraction to point a laser pointer at a moving vehicle.[53]
In Arizona it is a Class 1 misdemeanor if a person "aims a laser pointer at a police officer if the person intentionally or knowingly directs the beam of light from an operating laser pointer at another person and the person knows or reasonably should know that the other person is a police officer." (Arizona Revised Statutes §13-1213) [54]
If I lived there I would just walk up to cops and point it at them lol

Lasers more powerful than 5mw for personal use are also illegal in U.S., mainly because some people are actually dumb enough to point lasers into eyes.

You could say the same thing about all weapons, but I agree with you. They can be dangerous though, and you can accidentally hurt someone, or yourself, with a powerful enough laser. But that's why you're careful and wear special glasses for protection. I'm sick of the government babysitting me.

Oh, so the U.S. just doesn't allow the importation of such lasers. I was under the impression that they were completely illegal because I haven't been able to find a good source within the U.S. Any suggestions?
