The show had massive potential and the fact that it retains a dedicated following shows how big it could've taken off. It could have been up there with established franchises such as Doctor Who, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, and perhaps even Star Wars.
And trying to reboot the series now would likely only make the show terrible given that the cast are older now and it would render the original series useless. A continuation wouldn't be the same given the deaths of two characters. I'm Disney would treat the property better than FOX ever did. Deadpool & Wolverine showed that Disney is willing to retain the R ratedness of certain properties.

It was an okay show but internet nerds overhyped it. They never wanted anything permanently bad to happen to the captain so there was very little character development. He'd like get his ear cut off or almost die or whatever and through scifi magic he'd be good as new by the beginning of the next episode.
6 or 7/10 show. Not terrible but I'm not sad it got cut.
