What do you think of the new update? I thought about buying the game, but I played it on the website and it seems like something I would get bored with quickly. Does the version on the website do the full version justice?

I could give you some more context, though, if you want..
I was digging a staircase upwards in the Nether, trying to pop out on top of a nethermountain but i accidentally into the void.

The Classic version available for free on the site is outdated, but it shows you the main mechanic of the game. You place and remove blocks.
The full version has a LOT more going on, you should really download a copy and try the single player.
You actually mine blocks, collect their resources, craft them into objects and other blocks, all while fighting to survive against the hordes of monsters. The worlds are infinite, instead of small squares like in classic.
It's really an entirely different beast now. There are a lot of complex systems now that simply weren't there in classic...
Oh, the adventure update is fantastic so far... there is still more to come in the second half of it, though.
It already feels a lot more game like than previously. Health management is a lot more fun now, with Hunger implemented, fighting mobs sometimes requires actual strategy so you don't get raped. Exploring is tons more fun now too, the terrain generation was entirely overhauled and you can find amazingly epic terrain out there along with crazier than ever caves and dungeons.. abandoned mineshafts are a really nice touch as well.

The new mob in 1.8 is fucking great, too.Endermen. They steal blocks and kill you dead for looking at them, lol!
They drop Enderpearls, which are very pretty and also equally useless.
I like them (creepers, too!) because they add decay to the world.
If you don't maintain your things (or hide them really well), they eventually get messed up.

I haven't seen any yet!
I thought about spawning one of the blocks they pop out of but decided against it, cause i want it to be shocking when i see one in game for the first time.
