Topic: Why haven't the Russians pincered at the border?

Maybe I'm just an untrained armchair fat man with no experience of war except for my video games.
But if I was in charge I'd flank the advance, make my soldiers attack at the back of the Ukrainian advance, dig in at the border and cut off the people already there.

Because most of their available currently trained and equipped manpower is fighting in Ukraine and they just dont have what it takes to launch an effective counterattack on short notice. Also historically Russia is fine with trading land for time. It's not like Ukraine has the ability to march to Moscow and every ukranian soldier in Russia is a soldier not fighting to retake land Russia controls in Ukraine.

You guys have got Russia all wrong. Russia is proof that a country can reject wokeness and be successful, and that is why the radical left despise them. They hate them so much. Ukraine was a convenient pretext to attack Russia militarily, so they ordered Zelensky to attack to get that pretext they needed.

They could but since they haven't and we are entering the third year of the war you can presume there's good reasons they haven't done that.
It's an unpopular move, so he doesn't really want to. I think if this new guy he's put in charge of fixing the situation doesn't work out, he'll end up busting out the million man army.
