Not OP, but I used to feel the same way about gun grips. At some point synthetic materials won me over, and I don't even mind tactical rails and scary black rifles anymore - the material is that good, it's a better experience for actual use.

Wood is the most beautiful I think, but it's subject to wear, water, etc. Kraton-G is virtually invincible.
