Gonna have to agree with ya, it's not the early 1900's anymore.
And for a useless anecdotal data point, it was usually the women that were the Puritans in my family line, the guys only put up with it to get on with normal life and still be married in 1940's-2000's America. I think my dad even voted for Clinton in the 90's :D.
