Most of us old timers switched from MySpace to Facebook. So my question is: what did Facebook do better than MySpace? And how could Google+ learn from it?

Facebook started out as the place to get away from all the baggage you had collected at Myspace, that and it was good to get away from the shitty custom profiles.

i think google+ is cool because it has all these people that are interesting instead of your friends which are the most generic people ever. it's why i started tweeting. (back then it was relatively unpopular in the netherlands)

Facebook was a clean alternative. Instead of a badly designed profile page you got the generic layout that lets you focus on content. No glitter text left as comments, but a clean stream for text, links, and images.
Google+ has the advantage of Circles.
