Not really. Maybe in special cheese shops but not in the major supermarkets. It's mostly British cheese here anyway, there is a massive variety in British cheeses.

It depends. A lot of cheeses come pre-packaged and processed. There's a big variety of low-quality cheeses. Quality cheeses are harder to come by, though. There might be a whole aisle devoted to shredded cheddar, but only five containers of brie in the entire store.
Also, we rename some cheeses. We call Emmental cheese 'Swiss Cheese"

Pretty much this, though. You'll find the aisle of bagged processed cheeses, then usually a smaller area with the fancy cheese. Within the area for quality / import cheese, you can find a variety of cheeses, most of them with Americanized names; for example, most blue cheeses are just called blue cheese, lol.
