That's not true, there is a thing as a designated waste area and it's usually farther away from the domicile and enclosed to prevent smells.

I compost whatever rats won't eat, the rest ends up in the dump down the road. We pretended recycling was big here and that all those bottles magically never existed, but the corporations were just shipping them off to China to incinerate and whatnot. At least they still supply the recycle bins after getting busted for it, it's like getting extra trash capacity so I know what's good for me (shutup and take the bonus room in the trash).
