Topic: I like to use Google Earth to see what other places look like on the street

Some are fascinating, but so many American towns like this are so bleak and deserted. What the hell? It looks like after the zombie apocalypse. How could anyone liver here any not go crazy? Ref: it's Elk City, Oklahoma.

They have to build like that because there's a lot of Tornados. Can you imagine an E5 in New York?

Internet access.

Why throw away time/money to pay inflated rents in the city when you're home most of the time anyway?

I just close my blinds and don't answer the door. My backyard's pretty sweet though.

Yikes, that's pretty bad to be honest. Go downtown for muffler repair and you might lose your entire car and get mugged.

Oh my Lord, downtown Lafayette. Closed up buildings, dead street... How can anyone survive in this hellhole?

I mean, look at this abandoned warehouse. It's been closed so long, grass is overtaking the parking lot. How can anyone live in a city with so many abandoned warehouses and no jobs?

I bet food stamps are common here!

Wonder if Avec Panache! would have accepted food stamps?

I don't know. You should go to Google Earth and look at all the dead streets and abandoned buildings here. It's sad really.

Wow... You weren't kidding. More abandoned places. No cars, no people... Does anyone even live here?

Maybe the food truck guy is the only person and lives there alone.

Food truck owners are never alone because of cockroaches.

I've heard a compelling reasoning that the current economic incentives for land owners and developers is to let them remain without building homes, because the land itself can be likely resold for more than what they paid. To incentivize building, a town needs to make it less expensive tax or penalty wise to make homes than to sit on an unused property for loard knows how long.
