For a serious answer get into the system for a minute then flake out. I'd save up for one doctor's visit and 2 shrink sessions. Go to shrink once, tell doctor I'm going to shrink and they get me pills, go back to shrink and say thanks, pills are great, then call and cancel any 3rd appointment with shrink and fall off the map. I was able talk to someone a couple times, get happy pills, and was only out a few hundred bucks last time. When the prescriptions run out it can be a little rough but I was past the bulk of bad feelings by then.

Why do you want someone to nod at you, ask open-ended questions, and recite platitudes? Make a friend and you can get the same thing for free. Therapists are modern priests, they want money and gossip, that's all.

Some therapists near you might have sliding scale payment options. You can also sign up for Obama care if you can afford it or medicaid if you can't. You can also look into one of those online therapist things like better help that tend to be more affordable.
Also you can always be a shitposter, that is confirmed to improve mental health.

the online therapist things are a scam, i have tried those
betterhelp or whatever is tremendously expensive and their "licensed therapists" are neither licensed or actual therapists, they got into a shitload of trouble. They tell you that its affordable but its actually $300 for the first session and then they just automatically enroll you and will charge you every month and its incredibly difficult to cancel. My mental health has been bad for a long time and its gotten to the point where I cant even conceive the thought of me getting better. Seems like with each passing month it just gets exponentially worse and I have no idea what to do about it. I cant look towards the future because I no longer have one.

i know this might be a foreign concept to you but there is a point in ones life where you become too busy for friends because living is a thing, friends dont last forever and eventually you lose touch because there are other more important things to worry about

it seems like there is something physically wrong with my brain now because i have been dealing with this for so long, getting a prescription and then going off of them when I "feel better" isnt realistic

Which countries have free therapy?
Countries like Denmark, Norway, and Germany provide therapy sessions at no cost through public health services. Residents can access these services via referrals from general practitioners.Jul 20, 2024
Of course that means moving and becoming a citizen of the country. dw may just offer you a place to sleep and eat. He can also teach you about keeping the Dykes from leaking.

Fair; plus you risk turning into the 'downer' in the group even if you did reach out. I've been there, I got invited to less things for a couple of years.
> >there is a point in ones life where you become too busy for friends because living is a thing > > Sounds like your idea of "living" is a sad and lonely one.

A little bit of nature can do a lot, a bit of strength and endurance training can do even more, so combining them together could actually help you see things in a new way where you don't perhaps feel trapped.
EDIT: if your diet is shit, creatine could give you some clarity and extra energy.
> yeah cool let me just walk down to the local city club house and get a list of all the clubs I can join, why didnt i ever think of that?
Have you never been a member of any kind of organization, or spent time in a third place?
Your city probably does have a community center with groups and events, but that is only one way to find something. There's independent clubs, directories that help you find them, and now there's apps and social media.
> my coworkers are all middle aged or young professionals who already have their own lives and none of us have anything in common with one another
At work, I usually have a beer with people who have nothing in common with me or end up at a BBQ that someone hosts. Just invite anyone who's interested at the end of a shift, and know that if it becomes a regular thing some people will come and go so you don't need to get along with the people who show up to the first one.
It's not hard, you just have to let people know you're up for it and be patient.

Ah I'm sorry you didn't have luck. I found betterhelp to be helpful to me when I used it and from what I remember they had a sliding scale or discount or something initially but this was a few years ago.
