Negative rights mostly outway positive rights. It's not a matter of balancing needs and wants. It's a matter of individual sovereignty. There will always be people with unfulfilled needs in the world, and there will always be people with more than their fill. That doesn't mean life should be a struggle to take from those who have to give to those who need. That's a violation of individual sovereignty.
"From each according to their ability" is a bullshit philosophy. My abilities and the fruit of my labor are my own, and I see no reason why I should be extorted based on my abilities. I am a person, not a resource for the government or anyone else to decide how to allocate.

There is a math equation that shows a group does best when each individual does what's best for themselves and does what's best for the group. Keeping everything for yourself is not best for the group. Keeping far more than your fair share is not best for the group, in the long run this is why capitalism will fail.
