Western democracies don't even get the one thing a democracy should guarantee, approval of the elected officials. 18% support the US congress, and 68% disapprove.

What is the point of elections if the majority disapprove of the results?

Oligarchy is the ultimate form of all government. The difference is a responsive oligarchy that can be changed through elections, and an autocratic oligarchy that can’t. Democracy isn’t helped by Citizens United decisions. It’s also disturbing to watch the lofty twats at Davos opine on our carbon footprints when they live in 10,000 sq ft homes and flew there on private jets.
