Now I know the name of the guy likely who put it there, Vincent Bell. He's playing in the first few seconds of the Midnight Cowboy movie song, and in the entire Airport Love Theme song.

oh I'd better clarify my post -- those songs are cover versions of the soundtrack songs, not the actual soundtrack tunes, yet they became hits in their own right. there's a whole genre of what I supposed fits into what they call "easy listening" that they might play over the speakers as you get seated into an airplane during some era of commercial flight, and a lot of that is dudes' instrumentals of other dudes' shit
