My grandmother has a picture of my grandfather and Alex Haley shaking hands on an Amtrak train sometime in the middle 70's. He was a conductor at the time. It's funny because my grandfather seemed pretty racist when I was a kid. I found out later that he split a guy's head open with an asp for berating Haley on the train and kicked him out at the nearest station. Compared to our grandfathers, we are all pussies.
