I forgot all about it until 8pm, texted him to tell him happy father's day and he responded "thanks for the message. love you" Which makes for a grand total of two times he has ever told me that he loves me.
Part of me feels really bad for him, because he lives a terribly sad, lonely life. I'm certain that none of his other 4 kids talked to him today. But part of me also says it isn't my problem, that he's brought it on himself.

Huh forgot about this post. Was looking for another thread and found this. Here's a heartwarming update: a few months back I was in town and went to visit him. As I was leaving he told me he loved me. That makes 3 times total. Didn't know how to respond so I was just like, alright, bye. And then he died two days later

Tough on everyone. I vowed to not do that with mine (and have kept to it) but life is complicated when everyone isn't wealthy, healthy and happy.
