Topic: Merrin here. I just watched The First Omen (prequel to The Omen). It's a hoot.

Since I can't improve on Wiki's summary of the critical interpretation, I'll simply copy it:
"Due to sharing similar premises and a common Italian setting and released at about the same time, The First Omen and Immaculate have been dubbed as twin movies.[27] Both films explore the issue of female bodily autonomy, depicting the "systemic control of women's bodies reduced to vessels".[28] Bilge Ebiri of Vulture wondered about "why should anyone be surprised that suddenly, in the wake of the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade, as state after state attempts to enact religious laws depriving women of bodily agency, America is getting horror movies about people forced into monstrous births by religious institutions worried about their growing irrelevance".
Yeah, that about covers my own reaction. Subtle this film ain't. There's even a pompous weirdo who bears a striking resemblance to Lindsey Graham.
Great acting, good atmosphere, well directed, cool if conspiracy-minded plot (in summary: the Catholic Church wants to bring the anti-Christ into the world in order to draw people back to the Church). Definitely worth a watch.

Yes, although the coda (and possibly a particular suicide scene) wouldn't make much sense to you. But The Omen is a total classic so you should watch it anyway.
