Topic: The American banking system is absurd

We still hand write paper checks like we are Victorians. Those checks can take several days or weeks to clear. Meanwhile, in Asian (even in developing countries), transactions happen immediately via phone. It's fucking absurd.

I've never written a check in my life. I haven't had a wallet in years, Apple pay and a picture of my ID works for everything I need.

Transactions always take several days to clear. However, by use of the "Pending" function, they can appear to be instantaneous.

What I find absurd is it takes 3-5 bUsIneSS dAyS to send money to another bank account even if both are your own. I’ll never forget the one day I physically drove to one bank, took it out as cash and then physically drove to the other and deposited it in about an hour even with mid day traffic.

Banksters and credit card companies donated campaign contributions this year, the system is working as intended.
