Duh? Matriculation perpetuates social inequality. The cost of attending a higher education institution is steadily increasing, making it unattainable for many individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds. This creates a system where only the privileged are able to access higher education, while others are left behind. This perpetuates the cycle of inequality and deprives individuals of the opportunities for personal and professional growth. Paying for degrees is no different than the indulgences of antiquity that the church sold, only now we are told it buys us liberation from ignorance rather than sin.

Also it can be seen as a sin against the environment. The modern education system relies heavily on paper and other resources that contribute to deforestation and pollution. By participating in the matriculation process, individuals are indirectly contributing to the degradation of the environment, further exacerbating the global climate crisis. More importantly matriculation can be viewed as a sin against oneself. The pressure to attend university or college is deeply ingrained in society, leading individuals to pursue higher education even if it is not in line with their personal interests or goals. This can result in individuals feeling unfulfilled or unhappy in their chosen field of study, leading to a lack of passion and motivation in their academic and professional pursuits.

Try to critically examine the systems and institutions we participate in and consider the ethical implications of our actions. By reevaluating the necessity and impact of matriculation, we can work towards creating a more just and sustainable society for all. Education doesn't happen when you binge drink and take on a lifetime of debt, it happens on the streets and in the office.
