Topic: Leftist Bill Maher gets called out by Right-Wing Comedian Bill Burr
Anonymous A started this discussion 1 year ago#117,979
For years, Bill Maher's career had been built upon his critique of religion and far right politics. Eventually being given his own talk show on HBO called Real Time with Bill Maher. The show garnered criticism about his tendencies to talk over guests and his quick manner to change the subject upon him potentially being incorrect on something.
Now, in the year of our lord, 2024; Bill Maher attempted to do the same to right-wing comedian Bill Burr and ended up getting humiliated when called out on his shit.

Bill Burr was an active participant of the crowd fighting to ensure our free speech was intact. This is something that leftists like Maher would never understand.

Oh, they finally gave Bill Maher a cable TV show. That's what the world has been missing all these years. I can't believe it took so long, honestly. Imagine if he had been on TV prior to 9/11!

Getting pissy and refusing to give a serious answer doesn't make your side look good.
Why can Maher sit there and explain his side of the issue, but Burr can't? This is how all these Israel/Palestine discussions go. One side gives history, context, justifications, and the other says you are a genocide apologist who wants dead kids. If it's so simple, why not explain what the IDF should have done instead?
Israel is conducting an urban warfare campaign with a record for lowest civilian casualties in an area that is very densely populated. If that's not good enough, what are they supposed to do? Just let their country die?

You asked who was doing the bulk of the dying. We both know it's Palestine, and it was your way of implying that made them the sympathetic cause.
Why else ask the question when I just said Israel had the moral high ground?

@1,297,578 (G)
you inferred the incorrect implication
your supposition was that Israel would shrivel up if they did not do what they have been doing are and doing. I am trying to get you to see your illogic.

who has the actual power to kill immense numbers of the other, as borne out by what we observe? who has the greater means of using anti-missile defence, as we have observed? who has the power to completely collapse the other's means of electricity, food, water, and medicine? what have we observed? Is every such measure as necessary as you are saying? Is Israel so in danger of withering that all of these measures, in this intensity, are the remedy? With careless incident/fuckup after careless incident/fuckup as reported in the news (example, IDF killing the three Israeli hostages trying to return to their own countrymen)? Really?

The October 7th attack was funded by Iran.
Israel had a vested interest in playing politics with a dangerous neighbor, and thought Hamas was better than the alternatives. Hamas existed before Israeli support, and Israel did not plan or fund the attack into Israel.
Propping up a political faction doesn't mean you give up your right to self-defense if that faction turns against you. That's akin to saying the US should have ignored 9/11 because the mujaheddin were funded by America during their war against Russia.
