because slavery is no fucking big deal, in the grand scheme of things. every single race and ethnicity has enslaved every other race and ethnicity at least once. i mean sure, its not exactly pleasant to be a slave, but people have been voluntarily selling themselves into slavery as long as the concept has existed. hell, you yourself live in at least two kinds of slavery and you seem to have no problem with it.
