Topic: Are election cycles too short?

Anonymous A started this discussion 1 year ago #117,447

It's often been argued that 4-6 year terms which Western democracies use have a tendency to promote short-termism in terms of which policies are enacted. Would it help if election cycles were more infrequent? What if governments were chosen for ten year periods? Or longer? Fifteen year elections?
