Topic: Make your bets! Israeli bombs: Will the West intercept?

US, UK, France sent jets into the air to knock out Iranian bombs last week. They claimed that they did this in order to prevent a larger regional war.
Now, Israel has decided to retaliate with attacks of their own. Will these same countries send their jets up again to intercept the Israeli bombs, drones and missiles?
Oi gevalt, this Fake Anon, he's like a shlemiel trying to pass as a mensch! Meshuga! With his mumar lekhol hatorah kulah, he's like a chicken without a yarmulke. Maybe he should schlep himself to a real Torah class and learn a thing or two, before he starts preaching like he's Rabbi Rashi himself, huh?

But nobody actually declares a war anymore. The most we get these days are extended conflicts, occupations and the occasional genocide.

The Iraq War was a war even though there wasn't a formal declaration of war. The current kerfuffle between Iran and Israel isn't like the Iraq war. It's a tit-for-tat and the Israelis should sit on their hands. But they're psychotic especially post 10/7 so whom knows what they'll do.

Yes, whom knows. Firing a few missiles in the general direction of your neighbor is how Israel says good morning, so you'd think they would understand. But they've been grumpy lately 🫣

What was the last properly-declared American war? I want to say Korea but I'm not even sure if that was properly declared (I seem to remember it being described as a "police action" in contemporary media which makes me unsure)

I believe it was WWII, but this is kind of a semantic point. Any time you send 100k+ troops to invade another country it's probably a war, even if you call it something else like a special military operation. I do think it's kind of underdiscussed how there is this calamitous 6-7 year long war that kills 70 million people, peace is finally secured, and then 4 years later there's war again between countries that were just allies.
