so you are saying the Israelis are retarded dupes who are shown to be fine with blowing the shit out of everyone, and that they fell for a fucking PR move?
And no one of any worth comes away thinking that Hamas are good guys in this. They do shit that they should know better never helps anyone and just brings the broken hornets nest response.
> so you are saying the Israelis are retarded dupes who are shown to be fine with blowing the shit out of everyone, and that they fell for a fucking PR move?
It would be more retarded to do nothing, because then you're giving up your security and sovereignty. Letting Hamas get away with it without consequence would just lead to the same shit again later.

The civilians in Palestine overwhelmingly support Hamas and "think they are the good guys". Polls show that, as do the actions of all the civilians supporting and sheltering them.
What do you think Israel should have done? If they don't respond then they signal to the rest of the world that you can attack them with impunity, that's suicide. There's no retaliating against hamas without hitting civilians.
It's easy to condemn them and offer no alternative.
1. A formal two-state solution. I favor a formal confederation between Israel and Palestine (the former West Bank).
2. A pardon from both belligerents for all combatants in the disagreement with a view to forging a lasting peace in the Holy Land.
3. The immediate release from detention of all political prisoners, including Israeli civilians and Palestinian agitators.
4. Migration of the inhabitants of citizens of the Gaza Strip to Palestine, costs of transport and adequate new construction to be borne by the state of Israel.
5. Migration, with compensation, of the Israeli citizens of West Bank settlements to elsewhere in Israeli territory.
5. Acceptance by Palestinian Authority for the annexation of the former Gaza Strip by the state of Israel.
6. City-State status for the City of Jerusalem, to be governed by a power-sharing cabinet of Jews, Muslims and Christians.
7. Guaranteed access to Jewish holy sites in Palestinian territory. Guaranteed access to Islamic holy sites in Israeli territory. Guaranteed access to Christian holy sites in both territories.
I'm asking you what Israel should do after Oct. 7.
They can't suddenly agree to a two-state solution, because Hamas has already rejected the solution you proposed. They have hostages, what should Israel do?
Your dream doesn't matter here, because Israel couldn't get that deal even if they wanted to. They have to choose between signalling weakness that will get them wiped off the map, or they have to bomb hamas and take the PR loss.
Israel are supposed to implement the Minichan Solution™ as detailed above. Hamas are not in a position to negotiate on this situation. Please learn to read and/or learn about the Palestinian Authority.
> Hamas are not in a position to negotiate on this situation.
They weren't in a good position to negotiate on Oct 6, but the next day they attacked with unrealistic demands anyway.
> Please learn to read and/or learn about the Palestinian Authority.
Both Hamas and the PA would not agree to it. After Israel proposes it, and it gets rejected, they still have hostages to free. They still need to respond in some way or it will encourage others to do the same.

If de facto military control for the IDF means Hamas can pull off an attack like Oct. 7, then Israel is not going to consider that adequate control. That's why they need to invade Gaza to actually gain that military control.

They can't do it because the IDF fights back. If they decided they couldn't bomb hamas because they were operating out of a nursery, they would keep getting attacked by Hamas and losing citizens to kidnappings and surprise attacks.
Hezbollah is fighting them too, and if those two could do this without consequence eventually Jordan and others in the region would give it another shot.
