Only one US president has said that. Do you know which?

Is it the one who was always trolling and baiting the media for free press?

It was Trump, and he said it in a private meeting.

Maher brought this up on his last show, and you're saying it now so it wasn't actually private at all.

He says anything for shock value, and then generates outrage. You fall for the bait.

He meant it. All of the people there said he clearly meant it. It's amazing how you continue to justify every horrible thing he says and does It's almost like you're in a cult.

What do you think private means in this context?

In this context they mean "public".

I don't like Trump, but there's a reason the gun nuts support him and ignore this shit.

If it's only the liberals getting outraged that should be a hint yer missing something.

You can have something happen in a private meeting and it becomes public knowledge

Someone can say something knowing all the people in the room are going to immediately talk about it to others, or they can say it ironically as if mocking their political opponents, or maybe he never said it and the person claiming he did was lying.

Look closely at any scandal and it's nothing, do that enough times and people see this and dismiss it as another waste of time from liberals.

One party is seriously, and continuously planning to disarm the working classes. The other party has consistently defended those rights. Trump isn't going to take away guns, and if by some break in character he did push for it he would be stopped by his conservative counterparts in congress and the Supreme Court.

Taking one comment, that you can't verify, at face value as a literal political priority is disingenuous. When libs do this every week for something new Trump did, it becomes so boring that no one even pays attention anymore. If the democrats were selective about criticizing him, so that it was only on real issues and bills actually being pushed through government then everyone wouldn't be so desensitized now.

It's disingenuous to try and change the definition of a word based on what you believe other people were thinking

The rest of your comment is irrelevant

It's disingenuous to claim something everyone is talking about was ever really private. It's disingenuous to pass something off as fact if it's just hearsay from someone in the administration.

Wild the excuses people come up with to pretend that Trump isn't a horrible politician. "He was being ironic" has to be among the dumbest.

Ever take a civics class? Bills don't become laws because someone claimed the president muttered support in one meeting.

If Trump ever went to the podium and seriously proposed disarming these people, they wouldn't support him. If he signed a bill into law, they'd hate him. Neither of those has ever happened, so he has the support of the 2A people.

He did say it, though. It was regarding a red flag law which prevented people with flagged issues from buying guns. He said that instead of having a hearing about it, then banning the sales, that people should be banned first, and then a hearing takes place.
