Well I'm imagining that in this scenario where I am stalking them, I am very hungry but with like 5 big bottles, I could buy a cheese burger at McDonalds for the return fee

I think the majority of them are not antique but nevertheless people do collect them, even regular bottles. They have these stationary androids that you stick bottles into for money. Makes you feel kinda dirty but you gotta do what you gotta do.

For regular bottles you can just check trashcan and dumpsters

Did you know that you can look on old land surveys for your area and find where outhouses used to be? Then you dih and can find antique bottles,China, and silverware
