Topic: TTEH PLEASE FIX

Anonymous A started this discussion 1 year ago #116,544

This happens so much. I lose about half of every post I compose and since I’m on my phone it’s too much of a pain in the ass to rewrite everything. Think of all the precious content the board is missing.

Please fix, this has been ongoing for a few years now!

This looks like you losing your internet connection. Wouldn't this affect every site, not just Minichan?

@previous (B)
It only affects Minichan, it’s something with the server refusing connections I’m guessing

Oh and it only happens when submitting posts, it doesn’t occur when checking bumps or any other section of the site

While at it could you please put a stop to the Matt obsession?

Still broken. Lost five posts today.

I notice the longer it takes to compose a post the higher the likelihood the board refuses to take it.

I think connections are timing out or something strange .

if it's a connection timeout, just reload the page. it may warn you that you're resending a POST request -- or whatever wording they choose to use -- but you can just click ok and reload anyway. You could also just copy long posts to your clipboard before posting.

also, if your browser doesn't let you resend the request, then just kys.

This is a feature, not a bug. It's to discourage people like you from typing long, rambling, waffly essays.

What if actually people are writing hilarious jokes but then instead write a essay about a scientific problem because the post problem reminded them? Hm? What then?

Upon reload my browser takes me to the page for composing a new reply but it’s empty.

Why does it do this though? Also, I notice it’s worse during my morning hours.

I'm using chrome and it happens to me sometimes, think it happens when I post. You just refresh and it turns out it got posted anyway

You can see the post, but it's hidden!

Yeah known bug but tteh is too busy bugchasing irl to track down forum bugs. Always copy any lengthy posts you type before clicking submit in case this happens.

Have you tried using a different browser? This looks more like an issue with your network connection. It's not a Minichan error. Nothing in the logs that I can see; it's not the standard "tubes twisted error".

Yes, it’s across multiple networks my work WIFI, my mobile, my home WiFi. I don’t think it’s something on my end, other users have reported it as well

This isn’t something that’s always happened - just in the last three years or so

It's strange though because, unless Safari is showing you this incorrectly, this is a network error on your phone. This isn't a server error. It's not between you and Minichan, but between you and your local network. It's your phone not being connected to the Internet.

People report similar errors but nobody has ever reported specifically this, I don't think. They get the tubes twisted error or a token timeout or something after waiting to compose a reply for too long. These are server-side.

I'll see if I can replicate the issue somehow but I really can't see how anything on our side would produce this error.
