It's part of a bigger story you have clearly missed and you have missed the clue in the picture.

This is why you shouldn't make opinions based on headlines.

> "This a big deal, certainly in the inner city. So when you have Trump roll out his sneaker line, [blacks]'re like, 'wait a minute, this is cool.' He's reaching them on a level that defies and is above politics. The culture always trumps politics. And Trump understands culture like no politician I've ever seen."

They think that Trump releasing sneakers will make black people think he's cool, because they've only experienced black people through outraged clips on Fox News

The context of the discussion around sneakers was because they sold out almost immediately.

Please explain why you think this is relevant. Not trying to be mean

The Trump sneakers were a commercial success. Sneakerheads have been successfully reached out to sneakerheads. Many sneakerheads are black. By connecting with them through sneakers, he is connecting with them in a way beyond the way politicians usually connect. When they look at or wear the Trump sneakers, Trump is (metaphorically) physically with them.

Kook !!rcSrAtaAC replied with this 1 year ago, 11 minutes later, 6 months after the original post[^] [v] #1,319,058

@previous (J)
Dont you think it's very likely that his white, conservative base purchased them, as they purchase many things connected to Trump?

Especially since most Black people vote Republican and those shoes are very ugly?

Anonymous J replied with this 1 year ago, 35 minutes later, 6 months after the original post[^] [v] #1,319,071

@1,319,058 (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)

I think that there are white people who have bought the shoes, yes. However, the fox news guys point was about reaching out and connecting to inner city blacks, and one of the ways that Trump is doing this is by releasing products that appeal to that demographic.

Yes, but implying that sneakers can make black people ignore politics seems racist to me

If he had released high heels and said the same thing about women,that would seem sexist to me

(Edited 49 seconds later.)

Anonymous J replied with this 1 year ago, 14 minutes later, 6 months after the original post[^] [v] #1,319,078

@previous (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)

It's actually the opposite, the claim was that the sneakers were helping black people engage with politics (specfically Trumps politics) on a whole different level than that delivered by other politicians.

I think if he released trump brand high heels and they sold out fast and he said that releasing high heels helped trump to connect with women on a different level than the traditional "voter/politician" level then I would consider it

"On a level above politics"

That sneakers would help Black people relate to him on a level above politics. It's racist

If he said high heels would help women relate to Trump on a level above politics, that would be sexist as well

Anonymous J replied with this 1 year ago, 2 minutes later, 6 months after the original post[^] [v] #1,319,081

@previous (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)

How is it racist? Sneaker culture is huge with inner city black people.

Also I didn't say "relate to Trump on a level above politics" and I'm unsure what that even means.

And thinking that Trump can use sneakers to make Black people relate to him is racist

Not yet. You still have time to capitalize on this idea

Anonymous J replied with this 1 year ago, 14 hours later, 6 months after the original post[^] [v] #1,319,182

@previous (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)

I think that the subculture must organically rise before the miniature replica resin wet market can be commercially successful.

Anyway if I wanted to actually reach the Chinese I'd make trump brand waving cats.

Omg have you heard about those mini food maker toys poisoning a bunch of people with resin? They recalled so many units

I haven't heard of it. You mean like those toy lightbulb ovens that kids can make tiny muffins with?

Kook !!rcSrAtaAC replied with this 1 year ago, 6 minutes later, 6 months after the original post[^] [v] #1,319,204

@previous (J)
They look like this

They are toys sold in Walmart and Target where you mix resin to make little replica food and items

But the resin wouldn't set and when you're exposed to unset resin, you can develop a very serious allergy that affects your ability to recieve medical care and dental care

It was a hug scandal
