It happened a long time ago. Why wouldn't I suspect someone asking if we remember a minor detail of an event happening 50+ years ago would be 50+ years old?

Did you think that people only know about things that happened during their lifetime? I know about Ancient Rome. Am I thousands of years old?

The further back in time something occurred, the less the average person tends to know about it. Their knowledge is limited to the broad strokes at most. If you had asked a specific question about a specific point in history on a forum specifically focused on that specific point in history, then the question you just asked me would be reasonable. But you didn't and it wasn't.
Aside from a specialized community like that, only someone that lived through it or was born not long after it happened would know about what you're asking. That is, only someone 50+ years old.

remember the time MAtt that poster read about the cia's various plots against fidel castro and then pretended he was in the room with them and could recall the good times drinking bourbon with his fellow agents?

Hardly. Educated people know about history. I am sorry that you are uneducated and think that people can only know about things in their lifetimes, but, for most humans, that is not the case.

Educated people know about trends - broad strokes of history - and what they can tell us about the nature of humanity. Fools learn about minutiae like what you've asked about here. 50+ year olds lived through what you're asking about or lived through people talking about it - nothing more nothing less.

The Castro exploding cigar is a famous fact that most Americans know about, except the ignorant, uneducated ones. Wherefore, praytell, are you so uneducated?

Fools learn about minutiae like what you've asked about here. So are you a fool or are you 50+ years old? No need to answer. I think you're both.

You, too, can get an education still! @previous (D)
As I said, I'm 32. Also, have you researched universities? It might be good for someone like you.

Sure, there's an easy way to settle this. Post a picture of your drivers license or some other ID that shows the year you were born. Cover any sensitive info as you wish.
