Image went missingMy bad investments were in bitcoin!

It's now below $7 for a coin, the lowest in 4 months. I got in at $30/coin.

Oh, lawdy. Don't invest in anything and count decent returns in under 10 years at least. Its new, give it time, furthermore investing any significant percentile of your portfolio in a new and untested market is full on retard.

did you invest in mining hardware and you're giving up or did you buy your bitcoins?

This and, leave it in and just forget about it. If the virtual currency is gonna happen, its gonna happen in bitcoin. This is all fallout from that indecent they had, scared investors selling off, scaring even more investors etc. Patience man.

Ks, watch it keep falling http://mtgoxlive.com/orders
When it freefalls, it's best to sell it off and buy it back lower.

True, but where is the bottom?!? Eh, its not a significant amount of money OP has in it. I'd probably just let it ride myself.

i'd like to point out how amazing it is that a virtual P2P currency is even worth $7 per coin. and all of this investor interest only came about AFTER bitcoin reached dollar parity. bitcoin isn't going anywhere, stop being a pussy and just let it ride, or you'll regret that you sold off your coins so early in the future when cryptocurrency is the defacto way of paying for things.

I agree brie. The tragedy really is, that that incident triggered the downturn, had it been more stable rather than on a rapid rise everything would have been fine, worst fucking timing. Who knows though, it may turn out to be good for BC in the long run, no one can predict that kind of shit.

I'll still say that. Put a little money in them, if it works out it works out, if it doesn't, no big loss. I never paid attention to BC threads back on TC, I wish I had.

Hahahahahaha. Oh well. Don't sell them now. Just wait and they should eventually go above that.

Not a red cent lol.

to be fair I had $250 ready to put in, but then they started crashing, I'll still invest when they stabilize.

This is why they keep going down, see http://www.flexcoin.com/calc/index.php
50 coins are made each ten minutes from mining, no matter how much or little. It's based on difficulty.
It should go back to below $1/coin by December. No one is using the coins but investors.

Well there's no better time to invest than during a crash. I don't think it'll stabilize until after it goes back up.

Not exactly, gonna wait until they show signs of not crashing for a bit. I'd like to buy as low as possible obviously.

The bubble did not burst naturally, it was popped. No one could have predicted that. :-/

That is the problem with a currency backed by a currency that is backed by absolutely nothing. If the US dollar had a gold standard, it would be stronger, thereby increasing the purchasing power of the USD, thereby increasing the purchasing power of the BTC.

Anonymous I replied with this 15 years ago, 2 hours later, 16 hours after the original post[^] [v] #208,668

@previous (Nexus !jNexusRe/.)
The USD is not volatile enough to explain the crash. Maybe it' be a good explanation if the exchange rates of the USD to other currencies were changing two or three fold at the same time frame as all this, but it's not.

The crash is due simply to uncertainty/fear.

Understandable. But this goes both ways. It can rise as fast as it can fall. Something as simple as a news article could cause explosive changes.

Hah. If the US was fixed to gold, it'd probably be even more prone to fluctuating relative to the yuan, pound or Euro. It'd be completely fixed to the value of gold, which'd probably crash upon the adoption of the gold standard due to the immediate loss in potential gains from owning it.

If you're going to fix a currency to anything, fix it to something with a value that tends to change with the size of the economy, not an investment like gold.
