Because Kim keeps it all for his war machine and his extravagant lifestyle while the people starve and are treated horribly.
> Because it could be rewarding a dictator. I'd love to visit
The US is a much bigger threat to world peace than North Korea.
And I've been to North Korea, it's...not a place I recommend visiting, only because you don't really see the country. You see a sanitised vision of it. Getting there is a hassle even for me (Russian papers), for you I don't think the experience would justify all the expense of getting there. Let me know if you're serious though, I might be able to help you a little.

Maybe? You could make the argument that more tourism, more trade, more engagement could very well contribute to opening up the country. It's almost a bit of a Cold War mentality that shutting off and utterly neglecting a country will somehow produce radical change if only you keep it going long enough.

Just entering the restricted staff-only part of the hotel was absolutely moronic. I've done some daft things while drunk but the guy was an absolute retard.
Surely Pyongyang have gift shops if you really want a bloody poster that badly.

+1 for Rome. I visited with KL and a week was nowhere near enough. The Ostia Antica in particular was astounding. We didn't manage to fit much into our time in Florence but the Uffizi Gallery was somewhere I really hope to return when I visit with my friend later this year (or next).

You really can't.

Apparently Matt quit the board in disgrace. That's why you haven't seen any Throckmorton updates in Russia.
