Topic: Midwestern US will reach temperatures as low as -50 F in a few days

Breaking multiple records.

Why is it any time there's slightly unseasonably warm weather, every article I read mentions global warming and makes that the focus of the article, but when there's ever unusually cold weather, everyone goes silent about it?

If people didn't insist on pushing so much propaganda and being generally hysterical about the whole thing, we ironically could make a whole lot more progress by simply not polarizing the issue at every opportunity.

Remember CFCs depleting the ozone layer? They were banned in the 80s under Reagan. It happened with (relatively) little drama. And now the ozone hole is recovering (maybe... new research is suggesting it may've not mattered, but let's not hold back on forming conclusions before all the data are in!)

What happened to global warming?

no gud reason, warming would produce this cause theres more energy in toto so ud get wilder and severe shit. sometimes they say that but should more often. poots

Great. Now write that in English.

pay me bitch. learn to read, i guess youre having trouble.
they do mention temperature swings being warming related sometimes. plus one look at any global or sea temperature graph shows its going out of control in general.

If both warm and cold weather confirm the theory, it's not much of an theory is it? Why not just stick with "climate change"? Or "destroying the planet"? Because it seems like these days no one cares about actually helping it. Rather we just cut carbon emissions and replace them with heavy metal mining for batteries instead of doing less sexy alternatives like hydrogen fuel. Or we shut down and decommission all nuclear power plants so we can rely on foreign powers to burn shit for us.

All the other points I said in the OP notwithstanding.

Anyway thanks for being part of the problem! Maybe you can collect from the oil companies, 'cause I ain't paying you shit.

It's "climate change".

Yeah, they had to rename it because global warming was a hoax.

When did they change from saying global warming to saying climate change?

Global warming isn't real because it's cold outside the window

Lol

I'd say late '90s-early'00s. It was a gradual phase-in so there's no hard cutoff date. More of a gradient change thing.

Then why was the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change formed in 1988?

Nobody "changed the words". Global Warming is still happening, and it causes Climate Change.

Is global warming not a change in climate? Not sure why I'm even asking. You seem quite dumb and not worth having a conversation with lol

Things take time to filter down from the elites to the masses. I mean look at all the Critical Race Theory stuff. This didn't blow up until the past ten years or so, but was being developed in the '80s.

"climate change" is the new "global warming" because global warming is old and stupid, and South Park made fun of it. Climate change is also becoming old and stupid so they will have to come up with a new thing soon.

Global warming is the rise in mean global temperature, which has effects on the climate system.

If you're trying to ask if global temperature is the same thing as climate, then that's wrong you fucking retard.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Climate Change, is in fact, Global Warming/Climate Change, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Global Warming plus Climate Change. Climate Change is not an environmental phenomenon unto itself, but rather another component of a fully interconnected Earth system made evident by the rising global temperatures, shifting weather patterns, and the overall impact on our planet's climate as defined by the IPCC.

Many people around the world experience the effects of this interconnected system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the term "Climate Change" is often used to describe the changes we see, and many of its users are not aware that it is the result of Global Warming in addition to other factors, developed by the complex interactions of the Earth's systems.

There really is Global Warming, and these people are affected by it, but it is just a part of the system they experience. Global Warming is the long-term rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system, driven largely by increasing greenhouse gas emissions from human activities. Global Warming is a crucial part of an environmental phenomenon, but it can only be understood in the context of a complete Earth system. Global Warming is normally used in combination with the Climate Change phenomenon: the whole system is essentially Global Warming and Climate Change combined or Global Warming plus Climate Change. All the so-called "Climate Change" discussions are really discussions about the effects of Global Warming and Climate Change.
