Topic: Is anyone else surprised there aren't MORE spree mass killings?

People act like guns are the only way to kill large amounts of people. But one can just as easily kill as many (or more) as your average mass shooting with just gasoline: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohum%C3%ADn_arson_attack
It's crazy to me because this is something that is not only comparatively easy to pull off, particularly with gasoline, but something that no legislation is going to be able to realistically prevent. Yet no almost no one's doing it. What's going on?

I seriously wonder if the propane tank bombs they set up at Columbine had gone off, the media would've romanticized that instead of guns and we'd have a whole generation of morons fetishizing propane bombs. The guns were actually their backup plan. Maybe we'd have to get background checks to get propane takes today if events turned like that.

I always thought if I was to do a mass killing I would use a flame thrower!! Just walk in the middle of a huge crowd of people and then trigger the flame thrower, start turning slowly in a circle and listen to the screams.

Why aren't more people doing stuff like that? Why isn't ISIS doing better? What's stopping them doing a sarin gas attack, or even just simple makeshift gasoline explosives that could easily kill dozens, if not hundreds? Because they have too difficult of a time buying a few liters of gas? Couldn't pass the background checks?
It doesn't make any sense to me. It's almost seems like the world is a lot safer than we're being led to believe, not because of a lack of means to do otherwise, but seemingly because a desire to carry out these exceedingly easy tasks is astronomically rare.

You win for the most interesting answer.
But your reply is without a real ending. But where? Where do you get your news? Where do you find the interesting takes on things? Small forums are on the decline. Everyone's on reddit these days. And reddit is about as trustworthy as... well.. it wasn't and never was.
