Topic: Are there any low-budget episodic stories on youtube?

Anonymous A started this discussion 2 years ago #115,072

I'm not so sure what exactly I'm looking for, other than something off the beaten path and with an interesting story or take on things.

Remember when low/no budget webcomics to be a thing? Kind of like that, although I'm not looking for a comic.

The visual form doesn't really matter, it could be cheap southpark-style animation, a series of stills, or even low budget actors/set design. I'm puzzled that I don't see stuff like this very often, since it's easier than ever to create and publish and I know there's no shortage of good writers.

And by episodic I mean a long-form story spaced over multiple episodes, not one-off stories per episode

No but Omeleto is good for interesting stories off the beaten path

That's more anthology style, right? Not really what I'm looking for. I feel like once I finally get used to the characters and get with the atmosphere, it's over.

Same link twice.

What's a one sentence summary of these? Which one is better?

I've fixed it. Autodale is animated in black and white. It's about an oppressive society

Kid Farm is live action with real, recognizable actors and its a spoof of the Duggar family

Thanks. I'll check these out soon

Branching from what I asked in the OP, do you know any interesting channels that are non-fiction or possibly non-fiction? Doesn't matter if it's staged as long as it's somewhat plausible it could've happened. Sometimes the mystery of if something is real or not I find to be appealing. examples of what I'm looking for are:

vagrant holiday: guy travels to weird and occasionally forbidden places spending little to no money camping outside https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xnI1hZdltw
stobe the hobo: train hopping and drinking https://www.youtube.com/@hobestobe

I'm not looking for travel related stuff necessarily.

Have you ever watched anything by Soft White Underbelly? He interviews interesting people like prostitutes, murders, and a VERY inbred family
One man only barks, very charming imo
