I think he's a dick head too, but I also think ordering him not to attend / forcing him to leave / arresting him when he doesn't comply goes against his rights. The main reason the police treat him like that is because the mob who thinks he doesn't have a right to exist outnumbers them, and an angry mob would be much more difficult to deal with than an unlawful arrest claim from the likes of Mr Yaxley-Lennon.
At this point he's pretty much fucked by the system and should give up trying to be a journalist.
