Was a heavy drug user of prescription narcotics, had multiple affairs, yet was too much of a coward to present himself as anything other than the classic leave it to beaver 50s image.
Cultivated and actively encouraged a cult of personality.
With that, encouraged toxic patriotism and made every effort to inflame the Cold war for political gain. "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" The complete opposite of what a healthy government should function as.
Nearly caused a nuclear holocaust with the Cuban missile crisis. Probably catalyzed by his heavy usage of stimulants, sex steroids, and a whole host of other drugs. It was bad enough that his physician got fired and ended up being thrown under the proverbial bus since JFK can't take responsibility for what he himself demanded.
A few years after JFK dies, his brother kills a woman and gets off without a day in prison. Showing how truly untouchable this family not only believed they were but in a sense actually were. Luckily though, in JFK's case, he wasn't so untouchable by a bullet through his thick skull.

The majority of what he took, and all of what contributed to his psychotic handling of everything he had any hand in, had nothing to do with pain. He had his doctor prescribe him recreational drugs. The pretense was all very thin and the reason why they felt the need to later cast blame on that physician because the picture of what was going on was atrocious and they knew it.
