I made the one about blender's fucked up lighting. Apparently I'm wrong and despite what my eyes are telling me and despite what countless other people have complained about all over the internet, blender's devs have perfectly replicated the natural world. The fact that all other tables, conversions, and rated light values differ is because everyone else is wrong. That seemed to be the argument people were making in that thread. Whether or not people making that argument were trolling, I don't know. But that's what happened.
As for the one about the colour temp, I didn't follow it, but it's not really the same discussion as the one in the blender thread. The "unit" kelvin is used differently in that context. With the other discussion, it is not. Watts are watts are watts. Some are converted from electrical power to luminous power. But it's still all watts at the end of it.
By the way, Matt doesn't tend to involve himself in technical discussions, even when trolling. Closest he comes to that is arguing about language. But even then he keeps it pretty casual and non-technical.
