Topic: My son is nearing 30 and doesn't have a job. HELP!

As many of you know, my son is a prolific poster on this website. He is almost 30 years old and lives in our basement and doesn't have a job. He says he's trying to start an online business and he's working really hard at it, but it's just not going well for him. He thinks he's going to make a lot of money online.
My husband and I are considering kicking him out. We just sent him to Walmart with our credit card to buy some food to cook for supper and that's why I'm on his laptop right now. I'm also discovering a lot of really disgusting content on his laptop. I'm really worried about his wellbeing.
Can anyone help? How can we get this boy back out into the real world?

He is your family. Please do not kick him out. Family needs to be with family. As for helping him, you could insist that he get a job an help with expenses. Does he have any skills that might help him? Assure him that it does not have to be his life career, but he needs to pitch in. What are his interests? What kind of online business does he want to do?

He is a very talented artist in various formats. The "business" that he wants to start is a YouTube channel, but the kind of content he wants to produce is mainly targeted towards teenagers and young adults. I'm worried that he may be stuck in a teenage mindset and unable to grow up, if you will. It's time for him to start helping out, but he refuses. He has been taking money out of his retirement savings so that he's not asking us for money, but sometimes the money doesn't apply to his account quickly enough and we have to give him a 20 dollar bill.

Well, he certainly needs an income to pitch in. I will say, though, that many people make lots of money on YouTube channels. Do you think he is talented enough to gather a large following? In the meantime, does he have any hobbies? Maybe he could find a job that deals with those hobbies somehow?
My heart goes out to you. Your son, Dave, has managed to convince a large number of people here that he is, amongst other things, a Catholic priest, a Russian spy working for Vladimir Putin, and a notorious paedophile who goes by the handle, TGcomix.
We understand he is dealing with some extreme mental health issues and we hope he is getting the psychiatric attention he needs. Please let us know how we may help further, in any small way.
